DAVID J. KUPFERMAN – Certified Public Accountant, started his own practice in 1994. He specializes in strategic accounting and tax advice for businesses and individuals.
Prior to starting his firm David served as CFO/Controller for venture capital-backed, high-growth companies including Club One and Advan, and as Chief Operating Officer of European technology consortium KFKI-North America. He audited large businesses for three years at global accounting firm KPMG Peat Marwick.
Within David’s tax practice, tax planning and compliance services are provided to individuals and business entities. He has determined the tax implications of a variety of transactions, including corporate, trust and partnership formations and liquidations.
David’s clients include real estate operators, law firms, lawyers, technology consultants, global venture accelerators, art galleries, software developers, and doctors, among others.
He is a regular course reviewer for the California Society of CPA’s Education Foundation in their vetting process of new CPA training programs.
David is one of a few CPA’s specialized in the tax problem resolution field (tax audits/collection/litigation). To the tune of millions of client dollars, David helped reduced taxes, won many IRS audits, negotiated installments, released tax liens, halted and retracted levied funds, won appeals and compromised tax debts, etc.
David is a proud member of the specialist American Society of Tax Problem Solvers, and a Certified Forensic Accountant (awarded by the American College of Forensic Examiners).
His accounting practice consists of providing services to clients, including financial statement analysis, consulting with respect to financial controls, and cash management. This consulting combines David’s industry experience with his use of advanced accounting technologies.
David was both formal and informal advisor to Intuit (the maker of Quickbooks and Turbotax). Over a decade ago he was co-founding CPA of Intuit’s ProAdvisory Council. Since 2000 David was a pioneer promoter of cloud accounting and paperless systems for cross-border and American applications.
In 2008 he wrote a patent on the next generation of Virtual Collaborative Workspaces/software for efficient paperless CPA practices. In 2013 he passed a rigorous examination to become an early Certified Advisor for Xero cloud accounting technologies.
David has consulted for many new technology ventures over the years in the software, multimedia, ISP, semiconductor, biotech/pharmaceutical, and medical technologies.
David has been integral in raising millions of dollars of venture capital by his mastery of business modeling, business plan writing and face-to-face negotiation skills. David has a great deal of cross-border international venture experience and is a credentialed Chartered Global Management Accountant.
David participates in professional organizations including the American Institute and California Society of Certified Public Accountants. He studied accounting at Golden Gate University and San Francisco State.
He has a BS degree in International Logistics, but originally trained as a Linguist studying Russian, French, Portuguese, Hebrew, Arabic, German, Thai, and Spanish.
As a demonstration of the degree of confidence placed in David, he has served as a board member and audit chairman for several non-profit and private enterprises including the AAEJ, UJCC, Meandra-SF Design Museum, NanosSIG-Silicon Valley Nanotechnology group, and Intuit.
David has also been hands-on involved in refugee rescue and anti-child slavery missions in Ethiopia, Sudan, and the Philippines
David is a fan of history, the history of technology and economics, geography, languages, and meeting interesting people in interesting places.
He works out daily and used to regularly swim the frigid waters around Alcatraz Island in San Francisco Bay.
Office Manager
Ada joined the firm in 2000 and assists with a variety of accounting and clerical activities, tax preparation, and maintains the firm’s information systems. She plays a major role in our delivery of superlative personalized customer service with a smile.
Ada is an IRS-licensed Enrolled Agent and studies taxation and accounting year-round.
She learned how to provide six-star customer service from the best, having worked as Executive Assistant to the owner of the famous Alvear Palace Hotel in Buenos Aires (the “Ritz” of Latin America). Everyone should stay there at least once!
Ada also studied teaching and worked for a Fort Mason-SF non-profit, the Buenos Aires Police Department, Gillette and Parker Pen-Argentina, and the massive Paraguay-Parana Hidrovia project.
In her free time, Ada loves taking traveling including going to Argentina with her husband and son to visit relatives.
Tax Manager
Allan joined our firm in 2015 but he brings over 15 years of experience doing tax and accounting.
He grew up in Southern California and earned a BS in Accountancy from California State University Northridge. He is an IRS-licensed Enrolled Agent and has passed all sections of the CPA exam.
Allan enjoys working with small business owners to help them maximize profits and minimize taxes. Allan has worked at various CPA and EA firms gaining valuable experience in accounting and taxation. He’s helped a wide variety of clients ranging from rock bands, telecommunications companies, California Registered Domestic Partners, bakeries, construction companies, fashion designers, public officials, tour companies, all the way to nonprofits.
In his free time Allan enjoys going to concerts, hiking, reading, horticulture, traveling, soccer, and learning guitar.
